Gibson Les Paul Goldtop

Neil has used two different 1953 Gibson Les Paul Goldtops over the years. His guitar technician Larry Cragg assembled the primary version as a backup to Old Black. Similar to Old Black, it has a P-90 pickup in the neck position and a Firebird mini-humbucker in the bridge position. It is distinctive with its aluminum pickguard. At many shows you will see Neil, rather than retune on stage, switch temporarily to this guitar for songs which utilize a dropped-D tuning such as Cinnamon Girl, Cortez The Killer, The Loner and F*!#in' Up.

Neil played a second Goldtop during the 2003 and 2004 Greendale tours. This guitar was loaned to Neil by Larry Cragg and has two P-90 pickups with a white pickguard.
